I am Richmond Chiu, currently a senior in the Ateneo de Manila University majoring in BS Computer Science with a specialization in Interactive Multimedia and minoring in AB Literature (English). My interests include creative writing, appreciating literary works, and playing video games.
I am Xander Cruz, currently a senior BS Computer Science student specializing in Interactive Multimedia. My interest for video games and animation has led me into game design and development. I am also interested in 3D modelling and animation, vector art, sprite art, animated GIFs, Flash games and animation, making cool eye-candy with graphics and physics programming, cartoons, anime, b-boying, and swimming.
I am Marlou Ramas, currently a senior in the Ateneo de Manila University taking a major in Computer Science and going for a specialization in Interactive Multimedia. I usually spend my free time watching anime and playing video games.
Thesis Abstract: To this day, there has been a significant lack of shooter games released for the Microsoft’s Kinect device since its launch. Furthermore, majority of these games do not provide the player with an actual aiming gesture input which should be ideally available in motion-controlled shooter games.
In this study, the researchers will create a Kinect-enabled rail shooter game whose aiming mechanism will be controlled via the player’s left/right arm segment (elbow to wrist). Firstly, it covers what constitutes an ideal design of an ergonomic-based interaction technique that will cause minimal fatigue over time. Secondly, the Kinect calibration framework for computing the position of the player’s input will be derived through bilinear interpolation. Finally, the researchers will integrate the game design principles covered into the game with the goal of imparting a meaningful gaming experience.
